Hello WoW-V Members. Some of you wonder why you make a sword, but the icon comes up as either "?" or a shoe. Well, this guide will show you exactly how to find that icon you wanted in the first place. This guide will also tell you the difference between an EntryID and DisplayID.
EntryID: This is the item code used in spawning an item into your inventory.
An example of an EntryID is 19012. This is the EntryID to Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker if you haven't clicked on the link yet.

The EntryID is found most easily in the URL.
DisplayID: This code that tells your game what to show. This is what will be shown you when equip the item to your character. This is also what will determine the icon on all items you may create.
You can use weapon models for weapons only. You must use a DisplayID corresponding to Legs if you want to make a Leg armor. You cannot cross DisplayIDs: a Chest ID for a Head ID for example. You can cross DisplayIDs ONLY with: Rings, Necklaces, Trinkets, and Bags.
An example of a DisplayID is 30606. This is the DisplayID to Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker. To find the DisplayID you may the following ways:
1. Wowhead
a. Search for the item model you want to use.
b. Find the correct item. Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker.
c. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=19019 Add &xml to the URL. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=19019&xml
d. In the new page, locate "icon displayId="
e. The number in the quotes is your DisplayID. For Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker, it will be 30606.
2. VDRealm.com
a. Type in the EntryID of the item or the name of the item you wish to use.
b. Locate the correct ID Number. It will be the last number in the first line.
