Server Rules (Need Feedback)

Subject: Server Rules (Need Feedback) Thu 12 Feb 2009, 2:27 pm

I spoke to Rouslan earlier and am updating the server rules to send to him. I would like some feedback before I send it to make sure I have it 100% perfect. I feel it is not just me who should write them but the community should have their say too.

Have I missed any rules off? Have I made any spelling or grammar errors? Feedback is much appreciated.

Here it is:

IP Bans (Banned for life):

1. Don't hack, exploit, or bug in-game please.
2. Don't impersonate a GM(Game Master) or an Administrator. It confuses
players and eventually causes problems. Breaking this rule will result in a IP ban (even if you are joking).
3. Do not advertise any site/servers other than V.C.N.
4. Do not attack Gms. If Gm asks you to stop attacking her/him you must stop a Gm can be teaching someone spells or fixing Database Issues and the last thing they need is someone attacking them!
5. Do not stack lots of haste on the 2.4.3 and 3.0.x server, we understand that spell haste is part of World of Warcraft game play, but you must understand, spell haste on retail and private servers are very different. 6. Soulbound trading. You WILL be caught, logs are checked regulaly for this. So dont do it.

Account Banzor:

1. Excessive use of Abusive Language.
2. Defrauding or Attempting to Defraud a GM.
3. Harassing the GM Staff.
4. Scamming another Player.
5. Inappropriate character naming.
6. Racism
7. DualBoxing (Muti-Boxing) is not allowed on VCN
8. Attacking from underground (being feared underground or any other way there, and continuing to attack Players - see IP Bans Rule #1) will result in a ban.
9 . No arcane hunters or spell/fire rogues or spell damage death knights allowed on our server. We will give one warning for you to remove your gear and if you continue to break rules we will account or IP ban. Spell damage does nothing for hunters, rogues and death knights on retail so DO NOT use it here.
10. If you are a paladin who stacks spellpower do not use Seal Of Vengance or Seal of Corruption. You will be warned to stop once and if you continue to break rules we will account or IP ban.
11. If you stack spell power do not use items with a healing procs that are effected by your spellpower. We will give one warning for you to remove your gear and if you continue to break the rules we will account or IP ban.

Server kicks

1. Don't type all in caps. Caps are annoying, no one likes them and they also make you look dumb.
2. Don't spam any of the chat channels or even in /s (say) or /y (yell). Spamming can result in a server Kick, or a ban if you refuse to stop.
3 . Don't make threats or hurtful comments towards players, we want all players to feel happy playing in our servers.
4 . Don't beg players/GM's for gold, items, levels, etc.. is annoying and wastes peoples time.
5. Don't use any colors or pictures in chat.
6. All of the above will result in an account mute for 5 days if you don't stop.

VIPs

1. Do not add recall locations to our database. You must understand that adding recall locations is adding more information to the server.
2. Do not appear to or summon a GM without a permission [ account ban for 5 days]
3. Do not use your VIP commands during PVP or duel. Its very unfair towards our members. These commands are given to you as a reward for donating to our server so you can have more control over your character
4. Godzors and SVIP are not allowed to PVP with their tag ON.
5. Do not spam summon players.
6. Do not use your .invincible command in opponent malls.

Gear and Talent Points exchange

1. Donation gear is not under any exchange policy. Do not ask Game Master or Administrators of V.C.N to change your gear. Please make your selection carefully, select the proper class and then make a ticket for gear.
2. Talent points are also not subject to exchange for another character. If you reset your talent points they will be set back to 61, a GM (Game Master) can restore them but only on the same character.

Character Names

1. Do not have an offensive name as this will result in being changed by a member of staff link were you can see our naming policy; Naming Policy

For IP Bans #5, make it haste in general. Some huntard is gonna run around being a smart ass saying, "I DON'T HAVE SPELL HASTE! I HAVE NORMAL HASTE!" or whatever. You get the idea.

well if you say Dual boxxing isnt allowed may you say Multiboxxing too, some players see a different in it

That would fall under not using commands in pvp, I dont want to make the rules too long or ppl wont read them. But thanks for the feedback none the less Smile

EDIT: Rogu3 added it in, I guess this is a problem on here :/ would have thought people would get it by the "dont use your commands in pvp" but I see it needs to be specificaly said. Thanks Aeragan cheers

Nice job. Just made some alterations, combining yours along with some added parts. Some of the Server Kicks actually had IP Ban's included into them, so I moved them into that genre. See what you think:

IP Bans (Banned for life):

Players and eventually causes problems. Breaking this Rule will result in a disciplinary procedure (even if you where joking).
3. Do not advertise any Site or other Servers on V.C.N.
4. Do not attack GM‘s please. If GM asks you to stop attacking her or him you must stop, an example could be that the GM is teaching someone Spells or doing Tickets.
6. No Arcane Hunters or Spell - Fire Rogues (on rare events Paladin’s also) or Spell Damage Death Knights allowed on the Server (BOTH 2.4.3 and 3.0.8 plus). We will give one warning for you to remove your Gear. If you refused and continue - it will result in a disciplinary procedure.
7. If you play the Paladin Class please do not stack Spell Power (SP) and do not use Seal Of Vengeance or Seal of Corruption in these cases. You will be issue with a warning to stop once. If you continue to break these Rules, a disciplinary procedure will be issued to you for your actions.
8. Do not stack lots of Spell Haste (SH) on the 2.4.3 Server please. We understand that Spell Haste is part of World of Warcraft game play, but you must understand, Spell Haste on Retail and Private Servers are very different. I still throw out the argument that you can fight bugs with bugs. Every class is bugged in their own way so fight it XD I dunno there's methods for everything and I agree that people should exploit but what can you do? I think the best suggestion is fight the cause by trying to find cures for the cancer exploits just help you see what's going down and what needs to be fixed... Rolling Eyes

I have put bits of it into my current one. I left out some of the wording like "disciplinary procedure" because we get people from all around the world playing here who may not understand words like that. So I edited that out and used the word "ban" instead Smile

also I have tried to keep some of the original rules as close as they were before. Afterall they were writen by Rouslan himself (I think) and I am sure he probrably doesnt want the wording changed too much.

Very useful topic with a good cause, but despite the fact, you know people won't follow them.

Though when I send them to him I am going to have 1 copy in HTML code and 1 just normal so he can just update the web page and doesnt have to waste any time coding if he wants to. Would you like me to keep it as the current formating (font size, color etc.) with the HTML I send?

They was fixed way back in 2.4.0
