Guide fails in my opinion, telling beginners they can only win if they pop cooldowns, lolpopiceblockmindquickeningicyveinswaterelementalanothertrinketlol is how pretty much every mage plays like nowadays or they go arcane frost and go all iceblocktrinketicyveinsnovafrostboltfrostboltPoMfrostbolt all with their bugged slow.

well lets see ice barrier and mana shield absorbs about 2k damage or so in 4 seconds the rogue can do like 3 hemos? critting for 2k each no crit 1k each then add up all the white damage ouch?

But most of the time i was deep arcane / frost, So slow was always in effect, forcing the rogue to use CoS very early in the duel.

Every character I have has a pvp trinket so you're first point is invalid. Cooldowns should be used in BGs/Arena/World Pvp. In a duel it just ruins the pvp, who can beat a 1.2 second frostbolt spammer who crits 4-6k with a 4-8 second silence. If you can't win without cooldowns then you fail.
